This backyard hardscape project transformed a steep, ledge-filled hillside into a functional pathway leading to an outdoor patio and seating area.

Working with the property’s existing natural ledge and boulders, we constructed multiple sets of masonry stairs and landings that follow the natural elevation of the backyard. The steps were finished with natural stone veneer and bluestone treads, creating a durable walkway that blends naturally with the surrounding landscape.

Rather than trying to eliminate the challenging terrain, the project was designed around it. Existing ledge, stone, and changes in elevation were incorporated into the layout to create a unique backyard oasis with access from the lower yard to the patio above.
